Our project portfolio comprises a variety of research projects and facilities supporting our mission to advance the fundamental understanding of plasma acceleration and to drive the technology towards applications.

This involves our flagship facilities KALDERA, a high-repetition rate laser to drive next-generation laser-plasma accelerators, and FLASHForward, our beam-driven plasma accelerator aiming to demonstrate a quality-preserving plasma booster.

 
 

KALDERA

KALDERA is DESY's new high-power and high-repetition rate flagship laser system to drive our next-generation laser-plasma accelerators.

 

FLASHForward

FLASHForward is one of very few beam-driven plasma accelerator facilities worldwide and developed and built at DESY.

 

LUX

LUX is the first plasma accelerator to combine modern accelerator technology with the concepts of plasma acceleration, distinguished by its high degree of engineering, precise control, and advanced diagnostics.

 

Simulation tools

At DESY, we develop and continuously extend our toolkit to simulate the multi-scale multi-physics processes at play for plasma acceleration.
