Project Management

Safety is the top priority in all our activities. Together with DESY safety groups, we develop novel concepts to address safety at the cutting edge of research and prepare authority tests and approvals. A single point of contact for all safety aspects – including radiation, laser, gas, general and fire safety – ensures a cohesive approach to this essential topic.

Excellent science requires an excellent scientific infrastructure. We benefit from the experience of DESYs technical groups to operate a leading infrastructure for accelerator R&D. Our technical coordinator is the first point of contact for our group as well as DESY technical groups to discuss current needs and plans for future accelerator infrastructures. Over the past 5 years, we have built the KALDERA laser lab, a state-of-the-art clean room, providing excellent stability in temperature and humidity. In addition, we have turned a former synchrotron tunnel into a fully equipped plasma accelerator facility.

Our research covers a rich project portfolio. Excellent project management leads these projects to success. Our team is supported by a scientific project manager who is involved in all phases of our projects. We have adopted the International Project Management Association (IPMA) standard and certify our team leaders, to create a common understanding of the topic and establish best practices.
